Preparing Your Property Before Work Commences
Clearing Cladding And Void Access
Scaffolding must be stable. When carrying out cavity barrier installation in Cowes, our fitters need clear sight of the open void behind exterior panels, brick slips or hung tiles. Rubble, wet mortar snots or discarded fixings jammed down behind the timber frame must go before any seal gets compressed into position. If carpenters or window installers leave debris across the damp proof course, fitting a barrier tightly against the substrate becomes impossible, forcing technicians to stop and clear paths by hand.
Coordinating With Other Trades
Cables cause headaches. Electricians pulling conduit or plumbers hanging condensate pipes across open cavities often puncture or displace freshly installed barriers before cladding boards go up. You need to tell other sub-contractors when the cavity barriers are going in so nobody slices a strip of mineral wool to slip a duct through. If an external soil stack or a vent penetration crosses that void later, it breaks the compartmental line. We coordinate directly with the site manager to sequence tasks so nobody disturbs the seals.
